Monoliths are back! Here’s what you should know
Ten days ago, a mysterious new monolith appeared in Nevada. Now, another has popped up in Colorado. What are these mysterious structures? Who is building them? And how are they able to construct them unnoticed?
The first monolith appeared in southeastern Utah in November 2020, sparking an enormous social media interest in the structures. It was three-sided, reflective, and with a pointed top. According to monolithtracker.com, an art group called The Most Famous Artist took credit for the structure, but none of the photos from their builds seem to match the original monolith in terms of quality. Nine days after its appearance, the monolith was taken down by the Bureau of Land Management, due to the amount of foot traffic of travelers on their way to see the structure.
November 27, 2020 Romania
On the same day that the Utah monument was removed, a new monolith appeared in Romania. This one was also three-sided and reflective, but had a flat top. The Romania monolith vanished without a trace only nine days later. This time, no one took credit for the structure.
December 13, 2020 California
Nine days following the second monolith’s disappearance, a third was spotted in Kamloops, California on a snowy cliffside. This monolith was also three-sided and reflective, with a flat top at a slight angle. A local art group took credit for this one, and replaced it after the original was destroyed by a religious activist group.
December 22, 2020 Japan
Nine days afterward, two “brother monoliths” were spotted in Sendai Miyagi, Japan. Not much is known about these two. The structure is very similar to the one found in California, with one of the brothers being slightly taller than the other. It is not clear if these two are still standing, and no one knows (or has said) how they appeared.
February 5, 2021 Turkey
Just over a month later, a monolith was spotted in Gobekli Tepe, Turkey. The shape follows the same trend as the last two, and the face features Turkik script that reads “If you want to see the moon, look at the sky.” Credit for this structure was given to Turkey’s space program.
March 9, 2024 Wales
Things were quiet for a few years, until yet another monolith was discovered in Powys, Wales. This structure is remarkably like the first that was found in Utah, with three sides and a pyramidal top. It featured no inscriptions, no one took the credit for its appearance, and it vanished just three days after its discovery.
June 17, 2024 Nevada
One of the latest discoveries was made this month, just north of Las Vegas. This monolith was discovered on federal land – a protected site for bighorn sheep – yet no investigation was held to discover who constructed the monolith or how. This one was also three-sided, with a flat top, and no one came forward to take credit. The monolith was quickly removed by the police “due to public safety and environmental concerns.”
June 23, 2024 Colorado
Finally, the latest monolith to be reported was discovered around June 23rd in Fort Collins, Colorado. This structure also has a reflective surface, but this time it appears to have four sides. No one has come forward to take credit yet, although it seems that it may have been a prank played by the property owner’s neighbors. This monolith appears to still be standing.
Conclusion
This is not a comprehensive list of all monoliths discovered by any means. Monolith Tracker lists nearly two-hundred and fifty such structures, though many are clearly man-made. The discovery of the original Utah monolith (and the social media attention that followed) sparked lots of interest, and not surprisingly, lots of copies. Of the more notable and mysterious monoliths, most have appeared and vanished without explanation. Many people choose to believe that these awe-inspiring structures are the work of extraterrestrials, though it cannot be known for certain.
